WordCamp, Pune 2017

January 15th, 2017 was a lovely day in Pune, India. Mild weather, not much traffic and some enthusiastic people were running a marathon in Camp area.

There was a WordCamp happening in Pune as well. WordCamp is a conference that focuses on everything WordPress, it is informal, community-organized event that is put together by WordPress users like you & me. Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other.

So, after a quick bite of broon-maska with chai, I went over to Wadia College of Commerce. There I was guided by #wapsara towards the WordCamp venue. I reached by 10 AM, the venue was already alive with buzz of chatter. Many people had gathered, broken their fasts with puneri poha and chai. After registering and claiming part of my swags, I headed over for my share of poha and chai. Refreshed and ready I walked around, caught up with some old acquaintances, friends and some  twitter contacts, visited some sponsor stalls as they were still in process of setting up.

The announcements started and I was summoned to the  front of the crowd as one of the speakers. Fun quiz followed the introduction of speakers and then it was beginning of the sessions.

WordCamp, Pune had 4 tracks: Developer, User, Business and Community. Fantastic sessions in each track. I am proud to have spoken in the Community Track about “Random Hacks of Kindness”, the humanitarian hackathon and how we can do something similar with WordPress.
